I’ve decided to write this post to share with you all what my goals for 2016 are and also because if I put all of this out there, then I will feel like I have to do these things.
ORGANISE MY HOUSE BETTER
This doesn’t just mean ‘keep it clean’ but completely organise everything. I want to get a label maker and new storage for everything from my fridge to my makeup desk.
Kmart has really great, clear plastic storage for pantries and fridges. I want everything to have a little place and to stay in that place. I want all of my different flours and sugars to be in nice matching jars. I’ve already started organising my baking cupboard. I bought little jars from the Reject Shop (you can also get them from Ikea and Kmart) and all of my sprinkles are in them. A clean kitchen just makes me feel so happy.
Makeup storage is very important to me, but it can be so expensive. I’ve been looking around for a while now for cheaper alternatives because I don’t want to pay $100+ for a set of plastic drawers. I was in Launceston last month and I went to Office Works and they have so much clear, plastic desk organisers that would be absolutely perfect for someone who doesn’t want to pay all that money for plastic drawers.
I’ve been pinning some makeup storage on my Pinterest if any of you are interested.
MAKE A MEAL PLAN, AND STICK TO IT
I’ve been writing mean plans on and off during the year but in 2016 I really want us to all stick to it. It makes grocery shopping so much easier because then you know exactly what to buy. You don’t have to worry about it getting to 5pm and wondering what you’re going to have for dinner and then having dinner really late because it took you hours to decide.
Here are some meal planners from Kmart and Kikki K
HAVE A DAILY ROUTINE
This is probably going to be one of the hardest goals for me. I haven’t had a proper daily routine in so long. I want to have a set time for when I get up each morning and a set time for when I put my phone and computer away at night. I feel like my phone can be the biggest distraction for me at night. I don’t even realise I’m about to reach for it half of the time and then when I do finally realise what I’m doing I’ve spent half an hour scrolling through Tumblr.
I also want to put together a morning and night skincare routine because my skin gets so bad when I don’t use my cleanser for a few days.
I want to drink more water every day. I currently only drink water and juice. And maybe a coffee every second morning. I noticed a big change in my skin when I cut out sugar filled drinks and started drinking more water every day.
Breakfast is something that I need to start eating. Most mornings I have a coffee or a glass of juice and then don’t eat anything until about 1-2pm which means I am having dinner later than I should be. I want to have a healthy breakfast each morning at about 8:30am and then I can start to have lunch and dinner at appropriate times.
Kmart’s planners are really nice. These are my favourites: Weekly Planner, Daily Planner.
LOSE WEIGHT
This is always everyone’s New Years goal. It’s always mine, anyway. Last year I lost a little bit of weight, but this year I’ve just put on what I lost the previous year. My goal is to lose about 30kg. I probably won’t lose that much because it is a lot, but I’m going to try so hard. Having all of my routines in place will make it easier for me. I’m going to try to cut out sugar, eat smaller meals and exercise more. I will probably walk on my treadmill everyday when I watch tv shows/youtube videos. My husband also wants to lose 30kg so it will be nice to have him to punch me in the face if I start to slip.
To do those last two goals I’ve downloaded two apps to help me. MyWater, to track everything I drink and remind me to drink more water. My goal is to drink at least 3 liters a day. I also downloaded Streaks. You can choose up to 6 daily goals and they remind you about them throughout the day. So far I’m doing really well. The only goal I’m not doing great with is eating breakfast.
I also have a few smaller goals like, write a blog post at least once a week, save money for Christmas through the year, draw more (I’m trying to teach myself how to draw) and take more photos of me and my family.
What are your goals for 2016?
